Grapevine Conundrum

My husband seems to think he can untangle 20 ft long grapevines out of our 15 ft tall Apple trees in order to re-train them up the pergola. I am somewhat skeptical of his claim.

Bathtime

Pardon the fact that the pond hasn't yet had any maintenance this spring, but it has certainly been in active use as a bathtub.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...

I'm working outside this evening, listening to my only two remaining sets of bamboo windchimes, birthday gifts from my mother from the past two years. I only buy the cheap ones, because they don't last more than a season or two in the weather no matter how expensive they are. My usual supplier seems to be paring back on inventory, so hopefully I can find some more soon. We didn't buy any the past few seasons since they weren't in the "layoff budget" but now we're recovering slowly but surely and I need more bamboo windchimes to keep me company!
On a related note, how come so many places carry metal ones, when I only want bamboo??

Native Delaware: Sustainable landscaping can be aesthetically pleasing

Native Delaware: Sustainable Agriculture Can Be Aesthetically Pleasing

It's kinda a fluff piece, and it doesn't have much to do with the headline, but it's nice to see the concept of native gardening get at least a little bit of press.

This Is Going To take Forever

This is after I actually already put quite a bit of work into it. I think tomorrow I'll go buy a wire brush attachment for a drill.

Fennel Is Going Nuts

This is about four feet from where I originally planted it. It's coming up all over the place. Clearly I'm going to have to start cooking with it, rather than just crushing sprigs for visitors to smell.

Update

So my greenhouse didn't get finished as scheduled, my seedlings got all leggy, and I stopped watering them. Now they're all dead, and my greenhouse is much closer to completed - usable, even. So this week, I'm starting over. There, I said it.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Possibly the biggest black widow I've seen out there yet.

i.e. Your Spawn And Coffee Grounds Are Now Blended As You Requested

I asked him to mix my coffee grounds and mushroom spawn together and suggested that the easiest way to accomplish that would be to put two buckets together and shake them gently. This is what I found inside my back door this morning.
